The beautiful world of Dream Catchers...

There are beautiful concepts and beliefs that exist in different parts of the world. Travelling and technology have shrunk the world so much that many such traditions are now known to us. One such tradition which originates from the Native Americans is Dream Catcher.

It is a handmade object made using a willow hoop, on which a loose web is woven. The dream catcher is then decorated with sacred items such as feathers and beads.

These dream catchers are said to emit positive vibes. It is believed that dream catchers have the ability to catch all of a person’s dreams. The bad ones get tangled in the dream catcher and perish with the first streak of dawn. However, the good dreams gently slip through the outer holes, sliding down the soft feathers to the person sleeping below.

In olden days, they were woven by the grandparents for newborn children and hung above their beds to give infants peaceful, beautiful dreams.

Fascinated by this concept, I browsed the internet for hand wooven dream catchers in Mumbai. After a little research, I came across an amazing e-shop called 'dreamcatchers_india' on Instagram. I loved their designs and instantly placed an order for two dream catchers.  A bigger one for my bedroom and a relatively smaller one for my office cubicle.

The Dream Catchers arrived within a week. Also, they were more beautiful than I expected. The colors were just perfectly complimenting each other. I could strongly feel the love and compassion with which they were weaved.

Sharing the pictures below:

Dream Mobiles & Dream Husbands

Top post on IndiBlogger.in, the community of Indian Bloggers

A few months back I had explained here, how difficult life is for a single unmarried 20 something girl in India. Now let me elaborate on how complications increase buy leaps and bounds when you finally decide you are ready for that big thing called marriage. Actually, not when you are ready but when you are forced to believe that you are ready.

To me this Indian Arrange Marriage set up looks like a forced suicide. Somehow its really difficult to keep your self alive through the entire process. The stress and anxiety are sure to kill.

I have contemplated, analyzed a lot and finally come to the conclusion that the Arrange Marriage procedure can be compared to mobile shopping. In the theory that I share below remember Mobile is synonymous to bride/groom.

When you decide to purchase a mobile, different people around you have different suggestions. Some say go for an android, some suggest iphone, others say a windows phone. No one wants to understand your requirements. Everyone wants to suggest the handset which THEY feel is best.

But it's really not about their best, isn't it!
It's about the one that matches your requirements. That is why there are so many models in market. So that each one of us can pick the one that suits us the most. What if you are hardly into photography and someone suggests a phone with high end camera. It might give great pictures but what is the use. You don't enjoy photography. Similarly someone suggests a gaming phone with nvidia card but its almost useless for you because you dont like to waste your time on games.

After patiently hearing the so called Encyclopedia's of Mobile Phones you realize, its not really worth asking others for opinions. So you sit down and prepare a checklist of what you expect in your dream mobile. A stylish mobile which is sleek and durable, has good battery life, camera with decent pixcels, latest processor etc. You begin the hunt for a mobile that fulfills all these points on your checklist.

You visit different stores suggested by friends & family in search of your dream phone but somehow your heart is not fully convinced in buying any available handset. You are just not able to find all requirements in a single handset. You start doubting if a dream mobile even exists! Disappointed, you start prioritizing and omitting the requirements on your checklist.

Once the checklist is revised, you start a fresh search. You have compromised but you are still hopeful. You still believe you would be able to find a close match if not a dream one.
Alas! There is still no sign of such a mobile. Every phone is more or less the same, having similar features just packaged differently.

That is when your friends suggest to check the online portals. They claim online portals have wider options and are quick and hassle free. They give examples of other friends who have found their dream mobile on web and are living happily ever after. While you are determined to give it a shot, you face a lot of opposition from your nosy relatives and parents. They say its not wise to trust these online websites. They brainwash you to stick to the traditional ways of buying mobiles. The conventional procedure of going to a store and physically seeing the mobile.

Everyday you see FB updates of your friends and acquaintances getting their dream mobiles. You wonder where you are going wrong. Relatives keep checking if you have been successful yet, as if they are on a high priority mission. You are asked to be patient and wait because there is one special mobile for everyone. :P

With time running out , few become anxious, scrap their list and choose one random handset. Others attain the great enlightment and just take a break. Believeing: 'When it is meant to happen it will happen!'

And for such people my friends thus begins the endless wait..........

Illusion........Or.........Reality??

Recapturing my senses and with shivering hands I started searching my phone in the vicinity of my bed. Once located and few incorrect swipes later, I managed unlocking it!
The one thing I very strongly wished not to be true turned out to be very much true!
It was sharp 4:38 am! I was numb.

With each passing second & my heart sinking, I walked towards the door of my room. Struggling with the lock for a minute ,I finally managed opening the door. I turned to the room on the left and found mom & dad in deep sleep. I tried waking up mom but my first try was unheard! Before I could make another try, a voice from inside said let me handle this myself!!!

In the predicament that I was, I couldn’t think of anything at that moment!! I felt my heart pacing at the highest rate! Could it possible be true?? I had been in reality still trying to put the pieces of my dream together. All I could remember was, I read something from a piece of paper and she burst into tears!!!

I knew it was a dream but was there something imbibed in it for me? Was my dream a verbatim of reality, of what was yet to come? Or was it a verbatim of the thoughts of my unconscious mind! And isn't it said that early morning dreams often come true?

I went back to sleep trying to figure out the answers and with the wish that mom was beside me. There is something enigmatic about nights and something even more enigmatic about dreams!!!

The morning welcomed me with sunlight which penetrated the curtains into my room!! I woke up still with the thought of that dream but with a fair attempt trying to feign its existence! Very soon I was ready and left home for my dance class. Reaching there, I felt a strange negativity in the air! I could sense something went wrong!

As she entered the room, her eyes spoke before she could. Pain and grief reflected from her eyes and before I could ask she started to tell it all.

I was amused. I suddenly could see all my questions answered. My dream had spoken to me. It was trying to tell me that she was in pain. It was not an illusion. They were not the thoughts of my subconscious mind. She was a person who was just an acquaintance. I never thought about her. So how did I get that dreams. It ain’t the first time I get these dreams once in while and its sometimes about people who I hardly know and their thoughts wandering my mind is far from reality!!

I fail to understand this mysterious, uncanny world of dreams!!! There is no rule that applies here. There is no theory that is proved correct here! There are only experiences that speak for each one of us!!!!

Welcome the dreams into your world.....you never know which one might just come true!!!

"Man, alone, has the power to transform his thoughts into physical reality; man, alone, can dream and make his dreams come true." Napoleon Hill
