An Impromptu Encounter with the Bats!

A few days back I had an Impromptu Encounter with Bats. They are the only mammals who can fly. For an hour I was glued to my camera trying to get one good picture.

However, it is a tedious task to capture them. They are too quick. Out of my numerous attempts, only the a few pictures were good enough to be shared. Have a look.....

Echolocating Bat (Did you notice it's tongue coming out?)

In the picture above, the Bat is echolocating by sending out high-pitched sounds through its mouth. These signals bounce off nearby objects and send back echoes. By "reading" these echoes with its super-sensitive ears, the bat will determine the location, distance, size, texture and shape of an object in its environment.

Can you spot the Bat??

I was researching about Bats on Internet when I found that Bats are a symbol of Happiness in China and Japan. In Chinese, the words for “bat” and “good fortune” are both pronounced “fu".

Unbelievable! To me they are just scary, ugly & creepy creatures! Ewwww
