Stop Smoking for me & Quit it for yourself!

Every morning as I enter the building of my workplace, I see at least a dozen smokers enjoying their morning fag. What irritates me is that, the non smokers like me have no way to avoid inhaling the poison. Each time I pass the main entrance I give them clod stares and cover my face. Thus, showing my silent protest towards their favorite pass time and so called stress buster.

Today was a different day. The unwanted smoking crowd had disappeared. However, what caught my attention was a huge standing flex at the very same place. Normally Yamraj, the man in the flex, would have scared any human being. However I was so happy seeing the flex that if  it wasn't a public place I would have gone and kissed him.

Mr Yamraj greeting the Smokers
As much as I hate smoking, I hate the smokers too. Both of them not just take their own lives but kill others too. Every year worldwide 5 Million people die because of smoking. Many of them also die as a result of Passive Smoking i.e. inhaling the smoke released by the active smokers. Smokers can restrict their smoking to a no smoking zone but they can't restrict the movement of the smoke. Passive smoking is as dangerous as active smoking. It causes lung cancer, cardiovascular diseases and respiratory diseases.

The above no smoking ad will not transform the smokers completely but will at least arise a sudden fear and horror inside them. The no smoking ads have in general become intense and gruesome. Just to make sure the message goes out clear and strong.

Some of the Best No Smoking Ad's I found:

  3. Neha - The cigarette pack comes up with a statutory warning citing that smoking is injurious to health. But people these days tend to use it as a stress buster. Everyday I see IT folks frequently taking cigarrete breaks. Its a part of a culture now. I am glad you came up with something like this. So proud of you , Neha! Keep writing such topics that conveys some message. Good work!

    1. Just like you , I see my friends smoke everyday. It's very disheartening to see them chained to the monster of smoking. Hence thought of sharing this through a blog post.
Thanks for your words of appreciation.

  4. You have indeed touched a serious topic Neha. Well, I call smoking as "Death by Installments" People like to buy things on installments so some smokers too wish to buy death in installments and hence do not heed to any advise. Those who think that smoking destresses are only being fooled by the nicotine.

  5. Passive smoking is more dangerous than active smoking. Mostly smoking starts with fun, and then as prestige and then as a habit... Good article. Keep writing

    1. Thanks for the appreciation. Rightly said. I see so many youngsters who take up smoking at a very tender age and then become so addicted to it.

  6. Quitting smoking is not that difficult. You do not need medicines, electronic ciggs, tobacco patch or anything like that. One day, you just decide that enough is enough and you quit.

I can say this because I have done. And if I could do it, why cant others ?
